Has anyone else had their phone suddenly start charging much slower than it used to?
The phone recognizes the charger and shows that it's charging, but the battery percentage increases very slowly even after trying another cable or outlet.
What usually causes this the charging cable, power adapter, dirty charging port, battery condition, phone temperature, or a software setting? What fixed it for you?
If a phone suddenly starts charging much slower than it used to, I'd first try to determine whether the problem follows the phone, cable, or charger.
Try another known-good cable and compatible charger if available. Charging cables can become damaged internally even when they look perfectly normal from the outside.
It's also worth checking the charging port for lint or debris. A buildup inside the port can prevent the connector from making proper contact. Be careful when cleaning it and avoid using metal objects that could damage the contacts.
Temperature can affect charging speed too. Many phones deliberately reduce charging power when the battery is too hot or too cold. Heavy use while charging—especially gaming, navigation or video—can also make charging appear much slower because the phone is consuming power at the same time.
If the phone supports fast charging, check whether it still indicates Fast Charging when connected. If multiple known-good chargers and cables produce the same result, the issue may be related to the charging port, battery health or the phone's charging system.
For anyone experiencing this: did the slow charging start suddenly, and does changing the cable or charger make any difference?
